The Fabien Degryse trio is born in 2006, with the idea of blending the sound of an acoustic steel string guitar with a jazz rythm section (upright bass and drums). The repertoire has to be easy to sing along, but also harmonically interesting. And it had to give plenty of place to the sound of this guitar. It could be described as jazz fingerpicking .... The trio started to record a serie of CD's dedicated to this idea, and called " The He art of the Acoustic Guitar ". The second CD is just released: the " Chapter 2 "... and the trio is getting prepared for the promotional tour. The musicians of this trio are all well known in Belgium and abroad. They all played with jazz and pop stars, and they all teach at the Royal Conservatorium of Brussels for years. Fabien Degryse is a jazz guitarist born in 1960 in Belgium. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He travelled around the world with some jazz bands and recorded more than 20 CD's so far. While he had the chance to meet Mike Stern in Boston, and to jam with him in a ... hotel room in Corsica, he is more and more into acoustic guitar. He plays a lot with Jean-Louis Rassinfosse , one of the favorite bass players of Chet Baker at the end of his life. He recorded with the french guitarist Sylvain Luc , and played with Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, Calvin Owens, Claudio Roditi ... Bart De Nolf on upright bass, played with Toots Thielemans, Andy Shepard, Mal Waldrom, Lew Tabackin, Lee Konitz ... Bruno Castellucci , on drums, played with Toots Thielemans, Slide Hampton, Art Farmer, Joe Pass, Niels HH Pedersen, Charlie Mariano ... The two special guests on this second CD were choosen for the acoustic instrument they play, who would blend into the sound of this very specific trio without denature the music. But they were also choosen for their fantastic musical ideas and their great feelings: the young Thibault Dille on the accordion, and the fantastic american clarinet master: John Ruocco .
